Mother's Day Online Concert 2020
The crazy times were upon us. The sudden onset of the Covid19 pandemic had put everyone on their toes and behind their doors. International borders were closed, offices and schools were shut down and everyone was told to stay home for social distancing. We were told to stay apart to stay together. It was a crisis that had hit almost every single country in the world and hundreds of thousands of people were lost and homeless. LESI was sad to close its door to the children as silence hit the studios. For 2 weeks, everyone waited patiently for more directions from the Australian Government as the world watched the virus took the lives of many. But the learning of music cannot stop! The children cannot be taken away from their music classes for long because music is what heals the soul.
Within a week, LESI's management team and teachers put together an online learning platform where LESI students could log on at specific times of the day for lessons and discussion with their teachers. Slots were booked up quickly and within a couple of days, 80% of LESI's students were already back on track with their learning! Laughter and music filled the classrooms again as teachers overcome technological barriers and continuously push beyond the learning boundaries.
Days passed and Mother's Day was in sight! Even with the social distancing in place, LESI teachers and the management pulled off the most spectacular presentation of the drum students to their moms - online! With such amazing progress over the weeks, LESI students put up an amazing 30 minutes online concert with an opening drum piece - Happy New Year! This 2020 cannot be forgotten and shall be celebrated just as much in style! And right after with " Clap Your Hands" as we all raise our hands in the air and cheer on the new drummers on board! The LESI little ones came in with the doo-doo-doo Shark Doo Doo and totally melted all our hearts! With much fanfare, our amazing drummers also pulled off 2 challenging pieces - " Can't Stop The Feeling" and " All The Small Things". Finally, we presented our LESI elite students in the band Monster with " Hero", a gift of music to all mothers who had sacrificed themselves and many comforts in their lives to give their children the opportunity to embrace music.
The online Mother's Day concert was a hit with over thousands of views and the students received tremendous support and words of encouragement from their families, school teachers and fellow school mates. Families, relatives and friends from all over the world tuned in at the same time, over multiple platforms to watch and share the special concert moment together. Covid19 didn't succeed in keeping us apart and no way would it stop the LESI family from celebrating Mother's Day as one!
The LESI family celebrates the success of every child and we will embrace the uncertainties of the year ahead together. Remember, as we stay apart, we stay together! Happy Mother's Day!
