2019 The Year of Harvest
2019 was a year of celebrations and harvest for LESI Digital Music Education Centre! Not only were we awarded with multiple community awards from various government sectors, the invitations to major events grew tremendously too! We are very proud to be the recipients of the "2019 Stretton QLD Day Business Award for Community Service" , presented by Duncan Pegg MP and also the "Local Legend Awards 2019" which was presented by Jim Chalmers MP.
Over the last one year, LESI had received a long list of invitations from many government organizations, sports events and local community events to have our LESI Elite Performance Team members perform at their opening ceremonies. In order to put up quality performances, our EPT performers prepared way ahead of the events and made sure they were at their best form on the event day.
A few events to remember would be the 2019 Melanoma Walk flag off ceremony where our children drummed up the atmosphere and gave the participants some boost to their morning walk. The event was held in support of victims of melanoma and their families. It was a huge honor to have LESI drummers kick start the morning and also the cheerleaders of the families at the event. Melanoma affects thousands of Australians every year and LESI is humbled to know that it has contributed to the efforts to promote public awareness of melanoma and its effects on patients and their families.
LESI EPT performers were also booked up for 9 performances at Queensland's largest annual community event - The EKKA. Though tiring and exhausting to commit to 9 long performances, our little troopers soldiered on and put up spectacular performances day after day. The audiences were very responsive and even the Channel 7 News journalists and cameramen were attracted to the scene due to the large crowds. It was indeed a fresh take on the EKKA for many, with digital drums making their first appearance, in this century old event. The delightful performances by our EPT drummers were featured on the national news later that day. It was definitely a proud moment for many of our drummers, their families and the LESI team.
The Japanese community of Brisbane had a long standing history behind them and LESI was very proud to be able to work along with them at their annual Brisbane Japanese Matsuri 2019 event too. The EPT drummers were once again invited to put up a 15 mins long digital drum performance. Audiences danced and sang along with the many familiar tunes which the LESI teachers had specially selected for the event, including the famous Doraemon theme song. The atmosphere was amazing with plenty of laughter and memories of their childhood coming to live with the sound of our drums.
2019 had seen LESI engaging more with the community than before. We are proud to be part of Brisbane, to be part of Queensland and to be Australian. As a local business, we put our hearts and minds into working closely with the community. We love our community and we will continue to work hand in hand with everyone to build this place where we call home
